Whoever came up with the phrase ‘a picture is worth a thousand words’ certainly knew the power of visual storytelling.
Sometimes a picture can be powerful enough to be inspirational material all by itself. Photographers have made us see the amazing secrets of nature and now we bring you one of the most special moments of life, its creation.
Swedish photographer, Lennart Nilsson (1922 – 2017) was also a science enthusiast whose passion for photography led him into doing something amazing using a cystoscope.
In 1965, LIFE magazine published some of his amazing photos on the process of how a baby is conceived.
The first photos he took in 1957 were in black and white and not clear enough, but repeated the same in 1965 to get so amazing photos that we couldn’t resist sharing with you.

The heart of the child being born develops on the 18th day.

After 5 weeks the fetus is about 9 millimeter in size and starts developing the crevices of the face.

The eyelids finally open during the 10th week and slowly, the eyes are formed.

The fetus understands the womb using the fingers.

The form of the full-grown baby is visible.

You can be able to visualize the blood vessels of the baby under the translucent skin.

On the 18th week, the fetus can start detecting the sound coming from the outside environment.
